Do I have to write lyrics?
No. Leave the lyrics box empty and the track comes back instrumental. Fill it and you get up to 8,000 characters, with [Verse], [Pre-Chorus] and [Chorus] tags placing the structure.
What does a music reference do?
On the From brief approach it is optional, and it borrows the style rather than the notes — the reference is where the new composition starts, not what it copies.
What does a voice sample do?
It can shape the character and delivery of the performance. On the Use my voice approach the sample is required, and either way you have to confirm you hold the rights to clone that voice before the request will submit.
Can it cover a song I already have?

How is the key set?
